HISTORY

In a family of five, I am the second son of the family. My late father was just a peasant. He was a naturally well build man. He was once a traditional wrestler in his youth days. I did not know body building until 1994 when our neighbor the late Onyango Ngoni introduced to training in one of our friends house. He had a barbell made of concrete in a 4 kg tin. The spot I needed and thought I could do was Kick boxing that I had started training. By that time, we did not know the different between weight lifting and body building. We could do moves meant for weight lifting. I only trained three times there in three days. The fifth day, I took jerricans and tied them on a long piece of wood. So I could put water of the same level enough for me to do any type of exercise I wanted. I introduced my closest friend Walter whom we were training kick boxing. We made there bricks and blocks and even made weights out of gorges. Several friends joined as and we all trained in our Gym. We were training weight lifting to gain power for doing kick boxing. Little did I know that we were doing body building. We later came to know that body was a National sport in Kenya and we could read about Shem Chwea, Bokasa Onyango, William Cassidy, John Odour, Chris Tabu, Harstins Odiara, Charles Inwani and the Veteran Mickyragos.

We worked harder to reach where we they were.

After two years I moved to kisumu to look for a job. And it was sad because I had to leave back my so called weights. I had built plated chest and massive arms and everybody nicknamed me TYSON.  A nick name that I own today. I had to train so, I made some blocks and made my own Gym because I could not afford to pay for a Gym in town. Then my cousin Don Carlos once introduced me to his Gym that was at least better than mine. This man impressed me so much. He had great chest and huge back. He knew a lot about body building but didn’t have tools. He was bigger than me. He had a flex magazine and I could see what body building was meant to be.

MAKING MY OWN GYM

Every where I move I could make a Gym so that I don’t stop training. We bought cement and made our own weights where we trained and made good looking bodies. We were partners training together and many friends joined us. In 2000, Meshack Ochieng my younger brother came to Kisumu where he joined us. We introduced him to our training techniques. I moved to Mumias and left Mechack in Kisumu with Carlos.

ANOTHER NIGHT MARE

In Mumias I had to train. I was lucky enough to make weights out of scrape metals in the first week and moved them to Kisumu. When I came back to Mumias, I made other weights and started making my own Gym. I trained for a year and when Meshack joined me in Mumias, he was in a good shape that he decided to visit body building stage and he performed well. My chance to use scrape metals to make weights increased and I even made benches and machines and enough weights for training every part of human body. It is what I today call the fit Nation a Gym that has produced great champions. I had a vision and must be fulfill. I want to be ambassador of body building. I want to make great champs  out of my Gym.

My model in body building world was Kevin Levrone. And as per now, I go for phil heath. My main aim is to become a professional body builder and I am working towards that.

The main challenges I got in this sport is that to move ahead you must get somebody to pay for your diet including food supplements and this is not an easy task, because in Africa, Body Building has been neglected and finding sponsor ship even for games  becomes difficult. And that has made lot potential body builders in Africa loose hope in the sport. Most of us are doing it because we take it as a life style.

I regard body building as mother of all sports. It requires total discipline to make a decent physic. My plea is that companies and organizations should take body building and promote this sport like any other sport in this Universe. African body builders are great because most bodies are great but are built with local food and most athletes lack modern training facilities. They look impressive. I don’t use steroids; I am a natural body builder. I some sometimes use proteins and carbohydrate powders to enhance my physic. I train every body part 2 times a week. I take not less than 5 meals a day. I train 2 times a day, 5 times a week.

MEALS

I like mostly porridge made from collection of cereals like soya beans green gram, rice millet, maize, herring, beans peas and many other cereals. I take porridge ad sweat potatoes and eggs

RELIGION

I am a Christian and like serving God.

HOBBIES

Making friends and watching movies

MOTTO

(Lion in the Gym)

I trained the toughest way that people would say over trained but fortunately it works for me.

MY PROFESSION.

Professionally I am a mechanic specialized in pneumatic an hydraulic systems, building engines and maintenance of mechanical components. I have worked mostly in Germany, Japan and USA heavy duty

Vehicles and in Bell and Cameco products. I have been working also on tractors like SAME, New Holland and John Deere machines. I love working on hydraulic machines and equipments and building engines. I truly love mechanics.

BAD TIMES

The worst challenge in body building is traveling. You never know whether you will get a Gym where you want to travel. This is the worst virus that can lock you out of Gym. I would urge all athletes not to lose hope when they fail to win titles. You have to train hard and diet the right way.
